The music of Mateo Monk is beyond classification. It is a synthesis of multiple genres of world roots music, heavily informed by the spontaneous freedom of psychedelic jam culture. Mateo performs solo on the guitar, flute, synthesizer, and melodica, utilizing a looper pedal to create fully-textured rhythms, adorned with virtuosic melodic musings, all seamlessly woven into the song form in real time. It’s a modern spin on the iconic idea of the “one man band”, executed by a one-of-a-kind artist with deep emotional sensibility and dazzling instrumental finesse. Mateo has been performing for 23 years and has worked with many influential artists, including Thievery Corporation, Junior Marvin of Bob Marley and The Wailers, and members of the legendary reggae group Culture.
Mateo has been practicing meditation since 1992 and has been a devotee of Divine Mother Amma Sri Karunamayi since 1999. He recently visited her ashram in Andhra Pradesh, India, attending a three week meditation retreat in her presence, and just returned from a 10 day Maha Shivashakti Yagnam (fire ceremony) with her as well in Atlanta.

The Plate Scrapers
The Plate Scrapers originated in 2014 in western Maryland the way any good bluegrass band does: from a bunch of fellers pickin’ around in a circle, surrounded by delicious plates of food, strong libations, and good friends. The traditional spirit of The Plate Scrapers is still innately intact nearly half a decade later, though they have evolved into far more than your average bluegrass band. Through diverse backgrounds and influences ranging from jazz, to hard rock, to funk, the band has taken their music to an eclectic new level.
The Plate Scrapers have released 4 albums, toured the entire east coast and have provided direct support for Larry Keel, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades, Seldom Scene, Hot Buttered Rum, Cornmeal, Keller Williams, Jeff Austin Band and Cabinet.

JOEY AND THE WAITRESS BAND
Our goal is to create timeless music. Our first recording is just a small sampling of what is to come. More than a group of musicians, we are friends. Each performance is a celebration. It is not enough to say that we enjoy what we do; it is an honor and a privilege to perform together.
Since forming the band, we have been driven by a sense of destiny and a kind of calm inspired by the knowledge that what we are doing matters. This group of special individuals has evolved from a simple prayer asking for guidance – one prayed on many occasions – now fully answered.
We feel blessed for the life changing experiences we have had. Our hope is that you continue to follow us on our special journey. We look forward to sharing many more songs with you.

"Singing songs about ghosts and dead gods with a little too much poppy falsetto and nowhere near enough fuzz." That's how the Virginia-based band describes their sound.
Loud and heavy, but with dynamic shifts that lead into a world of groove and ambiance. Woodgrove came into being, as did the genre ’Paxil Pop,’ after a long summer of introspection in 2016. After a number of solo shows, Virginia native Jared Hall (guitar/vox) was joined by Max (drums), Logan Leverett (guitar), and Jake Wentzel (bass) to move the band forward in a much heavier and all-encompassing direction. While Hall still plays solo shows with nothing but his suitcase drum, guitar, and voice, the full band has become the prime directive for the group. Basing their entire venture out of the Northern Virginia metro area of DC, the band has had a firsthand view of the changing social landscape. Focusing on a blend of ambience and groove, on polarizing songwriting and introspection, the four-piece welcomed the chaos that was 2017 by trying their best to play music as a coping mechanism.
Nadeya is truly stoked to be the MC of the 2019 FlowJam. Originally from Roanoke, she studied acting at NYU, then was in LA for 11 years doing comedy, improv, music, production and then fortunately stumbled into being a yogi.
After 11 years her search for happiness would bring her back to her home state, Virginia, where she has been exploring and tearing up the rad city of Richmond ever since. While she loves to travel, she would be happy to call Virginia home for the rest of this life.
Nadeya will be opening her first yoga studio in Church Hill RVA this fall- 3S YOGA, strength, sweat, strength.
Even though she left the big city, she still performs comedy at Coalition Comedy Theatre and loves bringing comedy into her yoga classes.
